Welcome to Chertsey Nursery School!
We are proud to offer high-quality early years education for children aged 2, 3, and 4 years old, and have been at the heart of the Chertsey community for over 50 years. Our nurturing environment is led by specially trained early years practitioners, where children are encouraged to explore, experiment, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Chertsey Nursery School is one of only four maintained nursery schools in Surrey, making us unique within the early education sector. Unlike many other providers, we are legally constituted as a school, which means we benefit from:
- Qualified teachers and leaders who are early years specialists
- A governing body ensuring accountability and excellence
- A delegated budget to maintain high standards
In April 2024, Ofsted carried out a one-day inspection, and we were delighted to continue to be graded as a Good school. You can read the full letter from the inspector (please click here). Since September 2018, we have been in an exciting partnership with Dorking Nursery School, which has achieved Outstanding in its last seven Ofsted inspections. This collaboration strengthens both schools, supporting our development and financial sustainability, and ensuring we continue to provide the very best for our children and families.
Our Executive Headteacher, Donna Harwood-Duffy, works across both Chertsey and Dorking, bringing a wealth of expertise in early education. At Chertsey, Head of School Anita Cheeseman leads the day-to-day operations, ensuring that every child and family receives the support they need.
At Chertsey Nursery School, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, families, and carers, and we expect all parents, carers, staff, and visitors to share this commitment.
