From April 2015, the Government introduced additional funding for early years settings to help improve the education provided for disadvantaged children. This funding is known as the Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP).
To be eligible for EYPP, children must be accessing their funded early education entitlement. If you meet at least one of the criteria below, we may be able to access additional funding to support your child during their time at nursery:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you are not in receipt of Working Tax Credit and have an annual income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on
- Universal Credit
- If your child has been in local authority care for one day or more in England or Wales
- If your child has been adopted from care in England or Wales
- If they have left care under a special guardianship order or residence order in England or Wales
If you believe you meet any of these criteria, please speak to the office or the Headteacher. We will provide you with the necessary information and help you apply so that your child can benefit from this additional support.
Please check out our reports below to see how we use the money to give every child the best start.
Parent-Friendly FAQs
1. Does EYPP affect my benefits?
No, claiming EYPP does not affect any benefits you receive. It is additional funding for the nursery, not a payment to you.
2. How do I apply?
It’s simple! Speak to the nursery office or the Headteacher, and we will guide you through the process. We just need a few details to check eligibility.
3. What is the funding used for?
The funding is used to provide extra resources, staff training, and enrichment activities to support your child’s learning and development.
4. Will my child be treated differently?
Absolutely not. EYPP funding is used to enhance opportunities for all children, ensuring everyone benefits from a high-quality learning environment.
